KNOXVILLE BUSINESS LEADERS PLAY PROMINENT ROLE IN TENNESSEE’S FIRST INDYCAR URBAN RACING FESTIVAL

Group believes in the broad, long-term appeal and state-wide benefit

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (February 10, 2021)– Although the Music City Grand Prix is being held in Nashville, August 6-8, 2021, prominent Knoxville business leaders have played key roles in bringing the event to fruition as investors. Teddy Phillips, CEO of Phillips and Jordan Inc., has been involved almost since the event’s inception while Kevin Clayton, CEO of Clayton Homes, and Darby Campbell, Owner and President of Safe Harbor Development, were early investors and have been invaluable in the process to make the Grand Prix a reality, including multiple meetings with Penske Entertainment and INDYCAR executives Roger Penske and Mark Miles.

“We’re all very excited to be involved and see the amazing potential for the event, not just in Nashville but across the state of Tennessee and beyond,” said Teddy Phillips. “An event of this magnitude has broad appeal, and the tourism benefits and economic impact will be felt across the state,” added Phillips. “We are very fortunate to have Teddy, Kevin, and Darby as part of our ownership group,” said Christian Parker, president, Music City Grand Prix. “It’s a testament to the excitement that this festival has generated in Tennessee and the gateway it can become for growth and visibility across the Volunteer State.
